I've oberserved the vast African presence in Mexico, from the song "La Bomba," to the clearly African descendents in Veracruz. I'm glad that this is finally being discussed.
This exhibition looks like it would be fascinating. For the first time in Australia in December there will be a 3 month exhibition about Carribean migration to Australia...the first of it's kind. Hopefully more to follow...from Africa and beyond.
I am a writer, photographer, and student of history living in the Washington DC Metro area. Thanks for visiting!
My moto:
"I ascribe a basic importance to the phenomenon of language. To speak means to be in a position to use a certain syntax, to grasp the morphology of this or that language, but it means above all to assume a culture, to support the weight of a civilization."
Frantz Fanon, (Black Skins, White Mask - 1952, trans. 1967)
